Description

The Product

Bottled is a social messaging app inspired by the classic idea of sending a message in a bottle and seeing where it travels.

Users can write a message, send it out virtually, and connect with a random person somewhere in the world. When someone receives the bottle, they can choose to keep it and start a conversation or release it so it can continue its journey.

Once a connection is made, users can continue chatting through text, photos, and voice messages, creating a more personal way to meet new people beyond traditional social feeds and follower-based networks.

What We Focused On

Serendipitous Discovery — Creating an experience where every new connection feels unexpected and genuinely different.

Simple Social Interaction — Keeping the process of sending, receiving, and responding to bottles easy to understand and enjoyable to use.

Real-Time Messaging — Supporting smooth conversations through text, photos, and voice messages once users connect.

Global Connections — Helping people discover new friends, pen pals, and cultures from different parts of the world.

Playful Mobile UX — Building the experience around the bottle concept so discovery feels more engaging than a traditional profile-and-feed interface.

User Engagement — Encouraging people to return through new bottles, conversations, discoveries, and ongoing connections.

The Result

A social experience that makes meeting new people feel more spontaneous, personal, and human.

Instead of relying on endless feeds or traditional matching mechanics, Bottled turns every interaction into a small moment of discovery — giving users a playful way to start conversations, build friendships, and connect with people they may never have met otherwise.

The result is a mobile product centered around curiosity, communication, and meaningful global connections.
